Long Island Wineries
Here in the Northeast, Long Island Wineries dominate! The Island’s wines are recognized worldwide, this recognition comes from the quality of the wines produced.
Almost all of our wineries are family owned and operated. Most welcome guests and tourists who want to not only sample the wine but see how it is actually produced. Touring a winery also means meeting the families who run them. There are many wineries on The Island, some more recognizable than others, but all producing high quality wine
While Long Island wines are world famous, for the most part, the vineyards and wineries actually only reside on the eastern part of its area. Even so, the United States has recognized Long Island as an American Viticultural Area and along with this brought the perks and recognition that is associated with that designation.
The Island is excellent for raising grapes because we’re virtually surrounded by water, this really helps the grapes to grow beautifully as the water makes for an environment specifically suited for raising grapes by regulating the humidity around the area.
Some of the more recognized wineries in the area include the Paumanok vineyards. This particular winery is managed by the Massoud family. Outstanding wines can be had here and their tasting room is not something to be overlooked as it is very welcoming to visitors with very friendly people. Some of their better known products include the Vintage Cabernet Sauvignon and the Vintage Merlot.
Meanwhile, the Jamesport Vineyard is another of the well known wineries in Long Island. This particular winery is noted for the Sauvignon Blanc it produces and it is recommended by wine experts as one of the best tasting in its category. The grapes this winery grows are excellent so its products are also expectedly fine. This winery is run by Les Howard.
Another winery that is famous in Long Island is the Martha Clara Vineyards. This is one of the best vineyards around not only in terms of the wine it produces but also because of the facilities that are available to visitors. For example, they have a really large tasting room, a small store for tourists, and an area that looks more like a nice restaurant.
Pellegrini Vineyards is also a well known winery around here. Meanwhile, Castello di Borghese is the vineyard that popularized this trade in the area. Pugliese Vineyards produces great tasting merlots. Bedell Cellars offers a combination of four wines in one and it tastes spectacular. On the other hand, Pindar offers one of the best champagnes you will ever taste, and Lenz Winery which is run by Eric Fry offers a whole range of great tasting products like red wine and white wine among others.
Wine lovers would surely love to visit the Long Island Wineries because not only do you get to taste the superb wine that this particular area is noted for, you also get to experience what wine making is really all about. The vineyards stated above are just some of the few vineyards in the area so there are many more vineyards to cover. We’ll be reviewing many of them right here on these pages…
