Martha Clara used to be a pastry sales girl at the time she and her husband met. The family made it through the depression by selling their delicious pastries and decorated cakes. After her husband died of a heart attack, Martha focused on supporting her sons while improving the fate of their bakery.

When his mother passed away, Robert Entenmann decided to move on to greener pastures. He initially thought of a potato farm, but noticing that the area around Long Island is already filled of grape plantations, he decided to try his luck in the vineyard business instead.

In 1995, Robert Entenmann planted around 18 acres of vinifera grapes in his vineyard. While anxiously waiting for these grapes to come to ripen, Robert acquired more land. His vineyard acreage eventually grew from 18 to 112 acres.

Martha Clara Vineyard’s first release was in 1999. It was a Viognier made from the Sagpond Vineyards by a certain Roman Roth of Wolffer Estate. By the summer of 2000, Robert started releasing more varieties of wine, including Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Semillon. Though these wines were received quiet favorably, they’re not really what you might label as the best in their line..

The next year, sales started improving followed by the release of a more delicious variety. These arrivals consist of the Sauvignon Blanc, Reserve Chardonnay and a new blend called Glaciers End. You might want to check their website for a complete listing of their products. Their website also offer valuable information about the wines that they make.

With the releases of better labels and blends every year, Martha Clara’s rating is consistently climbing up. In fact their tasting room is always packed with avid tasters. More and more people would want to try out each of their wine.

Their much recent releases of Gewurztraminer and Riesling are just two of their best-selling products. In addition, both have acquired new labels to effectively say that much has been improved on these wines.

Martha Clara’s Viognier is also splendid. It has a rich fruit flavor and strong aromas. The label too is worth noticing, it has Martha Clara Entenmann’s wedding photo on it.

Generally, Martha Clara’s wine come in fuller aromas, richer fruit flavor and may taste less acidic. They encourage you to visit their tasting room in the Sound Avenue in Jamesport. You’ll be able to appreciate better all their varieties.

Should you decide to pay them a visit, you might also want to tour around the rest of the Long Island Wineries. The country houses several world-renowned and . A day’s visit would just not mean having tasted the best-tasting wines in the United States, it could also be a day of educational fun for you.

Having to talk to the winemakers and caretakers of each vineyards, you’ll be able to better appreciate each wine. You’ll be impressed about what a great deal of understanding these people have for the grape growing conditions.

You’ll also be fascinated with the country view the Long Island Wineries offer, The place also has some great restaurants so you could formally enjoy your wine of choice. I’m sure, you’ll be tempted to take more than just a few bottles on your way home.

Like the rest of the vineyards, has also its share of awards. In fact, they won silver medal in an upstate New York Competition. Though they’re a relatively new comer in this business compared to the other Long Island Wineries, Martha Clara Vineyards should not just be placed in the back seat.

A few more years, and surely, Martha Clara would be at par with the other world-renowned vineyards and winemakers. It just so happened that they just started with the business rather late.

Martha Clara Vineyards’ commitment to delivering the best blends of these grape juices is taking their business to the higher level,

Currently, there are still barrels of quality red and white wine that are currently aging. The next few months promise to be much fruitful for the company. Surely, their already-packed tasting rooms would need a lot more room to be able to accommodate an increasing number of customers.
