A Tour In Bedell Cellars
Have you ever toured a winery? If not, then you probably missed some great educational fun. There are quite a few Long Island Wineries and most offer tours. You can arrange entire trips –including travel and lodging -through your favorite travel agent..
Here’s a review of Bedell Cellars…
One very popular Long Island Winery is Bedell Cellars. Recently purchased by co-CEO of New Line Cinema, Michael Lynne, this well established winery is expected to improve their line of excellent wines. Bedell Cellars has three vineyards and two tasting rooms.
The vineyard is located between Mattituck and Peconic, in the heart of Cutchogue. Driving time is approximately just 15 minutes from Riverhead heading east. (Visit their website for more information).
Bedell Cellars founder and head wine maker, Kip Bedell is regarded as one of the best winemakers in the United States. In fact, he’s had several Food & Wine magazine features. He’s usually either in the front or center of the magazine. Some people even refer to him Mr. Merlot as appreciation for his efforts in the viniculture and viticulture of his wines. Well known restaurants in New York City frequently feature Bedell Cellars wines.
Most people enjoy touring a winery. Some people simply enjoy spending their whole afternoon talking to the winemakers and sampling their wines. Others like taking a leisurely walk along the vineyards. Either way, afterwards, there is always the promise of a world class east end restaurant. Bedell Cellars offers year round tours but mostly only on the weekends, so as not to disrupt the winemakers and the winemaking process.
If you’re one of those who enjoy wine more than anything else, then there is no doubt Bedell Cellars is the perfect destination for you. Most of the winemakers, including their head-man, Kip Bedell are friendly and will be more than happy to explain to you the magic involved in the process of wine making.
