Health Benefits of Wine Drinking

The origin of can be traced back several thousand years, wine has withstood the test of time as people from century after century and millennium after millennium have enjoyed what wine is all about. But underneath the great taste is the lesser known benefits that this drink has to offer. It is only recently that science has been able to uncover the health benefits from this amazing beverage.

But before you gulp down excessive amounts of wine, thinking about it as some sort of medicine, it is also important to remember that drinking excessive amounts of wine is not good for you, in fact, overindulgence negates wines . Plus of course, for many alcohol is an addictive drink.

Anyway, assuming your NOT an alcoholic, then consuming wine in moderation should be no problem. There was a study in France that proved that wine can reduce mortality among men. This study selected different people with commonalities like their age, their nationality, and other similar characteristics. The researchers then grouped these selected people into three different categories that is the , the extreme drinkers, and those that do not drink at all.

Surprisingly, the result showed that those who drink moderately lived significantly longer lives then the other two categories, those who drink excessively and those who don't drink. There is a theory that wine does have protective elements that prevent drinkers from getting diseases that are common to man like heart disease.

Right now, with all the information that bombards us daily, it is becoming common knowledge that wine can reduce the risk of and other ailments associated with it. But until recently, it has actually never been scientifically proven.

There was a particular study from , that pointed the exact process wherein the wine gives a benefit to the muscle cells in the heart by lowering the smooth muscle which is actually responsible for the growth of atherosclerosis that can eventually lead to problems with the . This is especially true when you drink your wine just after eating.

Women are not left out from the benefits wine has to offer either as there was a recent study conducted at the that showed that women who drink wine moderately have a reduced risk . While this research also noted that other drinks that are good for health like fruit juices, different kinds of tea, etc. also reduced the risk of having kidney stones, it was the wine that proved to be the most beneficial for women in this regard, similar results were found in men.

There are many more benefits we have yet to uncover in drinking wine but these studies had shown that there is no need to fear in wine drinking if taken moderately.
